Dion is a New Orleans-based electric and upright bass player and composer. His music spans genres from jazz and Afro jazz to funk and zydeco, performed with various bands.

His passion for music began with the saxophone at the age of 10. He pursued his studies at Northwestern University and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

After hearing Ron Carter’s album “Piccolo,” Dion began his journey into bass playing. Initially self-taught, he later received instruction from Robert Nash, Bob Sunda, and Charlie Wooton.

Since 2007, Dion has played with Dwayne Dopsie and The Zydeco Hellraisers, frequently touring throughout the United States, Europe, and South America. They have opened for artists like Trombone Shorty, Kingfish, and George Benson, and performed at festivals such as Nancy Jazz Pulsations, Rochester Jazz Fest, New Orleans Jazz Fest, and Umbria Jazz. Dion has been nominated for a Grammy twice with Dwayne Dopsie, in 2013 and 2023.

He continues to fulfill his passion for jazz by composing and playing with his own jazz band, Mind is Gone, as well as with various other jazz groups.
